Grandma's Peanut Butter Cookies Recipe

This is the recipe that started it all for me. Grandma and I would make these all the time. She got the recipe from her first boyfriend’s mother, so no one really knows how old this recipe is.

Makes 50-60 cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup White Sugar
  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Cup Shortening
  • 1 Cup Peanut Butter
  • 2 Eggs, well beaten
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt
  • 2 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 2 Cups Flour

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large bowl, cream sugars and shortening together.
  3. Cream in peanut butter.
  4. Add vanilla and eggs.
  5. In a small bowl, sift together salt, baking soda, and flour.
  6. Mix the dry ingredients into the larger bowl a third or quarter at a time.
  7. Roll dough into walnut sized balls.
  8. Place balls on pan with a 3″ gap.
  9. Press with prongs of slightly wet fork.
  10. Bake at 375°F for 8-10 minutes.
