Grandma's Peanut Butter Cookies Recipe
This is the recipe that started it all for me. Grandma and I would make these all the time. She got the recipe from her first boyfriend’s mother, so no one really knows how old this recipe is.
Makes 50-60 cookies.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup White Sugar
- 1 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1 Cup Shortening
- 1 Cup Peanut Butter
- 2 Eggs, well beaten
- 1 Tsp Vanilla
- 1/4 Tsp Salt
- 2 Tsp Baking Soda
- 2 Cups Flour
Steps
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a large bowl, cream sugars and shortening together.
- Cream in peanut butter.
- Add vanilla and eggs.
- In a small bowl, sift together salt, baking soda, and flour.
- Mix the dry ingredients into the larger bowl a third or quarter at a time.
- Roll dough into walnut sized balls.
- Place balls on pan with a 3″ gap.
- Press with prongs of slightly wet fork.
- Bake at 375°F for 8-10 minutes.
