Macaroni & Cheese Surprise
Ingredients
- 2 Tbs Butter
- 2 Tbs Flour
- 1/2 Cup Milk
- 1/2 Cup Half and Half
- 6 Oz. Mild Cheddar, cubed
- 16 Oz. Macaroni
- 2 Oz. Mild Cheddar, crumbled
- 8 Oz. Bacon
Steps
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Put on a pot for the macaroni, filled with water.
- Melt Butter in a small pot over medium heat.
- Add flour to butter.
- Cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Add Milk and Half and Half to butter/flour.
- Drop Pasta.
- Cube Cheese
- Add Salt and Pepper to milk mixture to taste.
- Stir in cheese a bit at a time.
- Drain macaroni when it is al dente. See notes
- Spray 2 9″ cake pans.
- Mix macaroni and cheese sauce.
- Pour mixture evenly into the 2 cake pans.
- Bake at 350°F for 20-30 minutes, until slightly golden.
- Cool Completely.
- Fry bacon until crisp in a pan.
- Flip one cake pan’s macaroni onto a cake dish.
- Layer bacon on top.
- Place second cake’s macaroni on top of the bacon.
- Decorate with crumbles.
Notes
- Do NOT completely cook macaroni when boiling, it will finish in the oven.
- If you don’t have half & half, then use all milk.
- In the photo, I used half macaroni and half rontini.
