Macaroni & Cheese Surprise

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbs Butter
  • 2 Tbs Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 1/2 Cup Half and Half
  • 6 Oz. Mild Cheddar, cubed
  • 16 Oz. Macaroni
  • 2 Oz. Mild Cheddar, crumbled
  • 8 Oz. Bacon

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Put on a pot for the macaroni, filled with water.
  3. Melt Butter in a small pot over medium heat.
  4. Add flour to butter.
  5. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add Milk and Half and Half to butter/flour.
  7. Drop Pasta.
  8. Cube Cheese
  9. Add Salt and Pepper to milk mixture to taste.
  10. Stir in cheese a bit at a time.
  11. Drain macaroni when it is al dente. See notes
  12. Spray 2 9″ cake pans.
  13. Mix macaroni and cheese sauce.
  14. Pour mixture evenly into the 2 cake pans.
  15. Bake at 350°F for 20-30 minutes, until slightly golden.
  16. Cool Completely.
  17. Fry bacon until crisp in a pan.
  18. Flip one cake pan’s macaroni onto a cake dish.
  19. Layer bacon on top.
  20. Place second cake’s macaroni on top of the bacon.
  21. Decorate with crumbles.

Notes

  • Do NOT completely cook macaroni when boiling, it will finish in the oven.
  • If you don’t have half & half, then use all milk.
  • In the photo, I used half macaroni and half rontini.
