Bran Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Molasses
  • 1/2 Cup Sugaar
  • 1/4 Cup Shortening, melted
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 Cups Flour
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 1/4 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Tsp Ginger
  • 1/4 Tsp Cloves
  • 1 Cup Wheat Bran

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Mix molasses, sugar, shortening and egg together.
  3. Stir until well combined.
  4. Sift dry ingredients together.
  5. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients a quarter at a time.
  6. Cool to room temperature.
  7. Roll to a 1/8″ thickness.
  8. Cut with cookie cutter.
  9. Bake from 7 to 10 minutes.

Notes

  • DO NOT OVERMIX in step 5. If you do, your cookies will be bran bricks.
  • If you don’t have a rolling pin, use a piece of clean PVC pipe.
  • If you don’t have a cookie cutter, a glass works just as well.
