Go for a walk

Play tag football or some other sport

Ride your bike

Help clean up

Dance

The list goes on and on. The point is to burn the calories while they are still blood sugar and before your body converts them into fat.

Whatever you do, do not take a nap after dinner. Your blood sugar will spike within 1-2 hours after eating and you’ll be snoozing right through the optimal exercise time. If that means skimping on the turkey during dinner, make sure you let your host or hostess know your intentions so they don’t feel insulted.

After you exercise, chow down on turkey instead of having extra pie.

Spend some quality time with your family during the holidays, while starting a healthy family tradition.
